I am based in the very northwest corner of Washington

state in a beautiful city called Bellingham – if you have never been here, I invite you to visit. It is stunning!

I reside here with my two dogs.

When I’m not in the salon I am skydiving somewhere in the world or training for a race either on foot or inline skates. In the long dark winters here in the pacific northwest I love to snowboard, lift heavy weights, and cook healthful meals.

Hi there! I’m Austyn, a hairstylist specializing in dimensional color and continuing education for experienced stylists.

I have been behind the chair for 8 years as an independent contractor and I am beginning my career as an educator; I teach experienced stylists color techniques that I have developed over my time as a stylist.

EDUCATION

What to expect:

We will begin our day with a brief introduction of the technique and together we will glance over the whole head pattern and a couple of key concepts.

Secondly, we will dive right into the hands-on portion; you will follow along, section by section, working on a live model of your own. After putting up the foil, we will break for lunch while our model’s color processes.

Let’s get out of our comfort zones and challenge ourselves so we can add yet another tool to our toolboxes:

Students Journey

Foilyage is a technique that has evolved from tried and true foils and the more modern technique of balayage. It gives a soft grow out, similar to balayage, but we can achieve many levels of lift and cooler tones than we can with open air balayage. Foilyage appears more as an overall lightness rather than the ribbons of highlights you get with balayage. This technique is also customizable for both blondes and brunettes.

Balayage

Balayage comes from the French word "to sweep" and that makes sense once you see it done. This technique involves a clay based lightener so it stays where it is put and is hand painted on each section. The result is beautiful, natural looking highlights as if you've been sitting out in the sun. Balayage is best for someone who wants a natural, lived in look that is low maintenance. Keep in mind this service is best suited for someone who wants lower contrast highlights that are on the warmer side rather than cool tones.

Are you accepting new clients?

Always! I do tend to book out a bit but I keep a cancellation list.

What are other services you provide?

I offer Brazilian blowouts for folks who want to tame unruly hair as well as grey blending for those transitioning from all over color back to their natural .

What about vivid color and color corrections?

I currently do not offer vivid color services but I can give you recommendations for amazing stylists who love doing vivids.

I take color corrections on a case-to-case basis and a consultation is required.

Do you have cancellation policy?

Cancellation less than 48 hours prior to appointment will result

in a charge of 50% of the services scheduled. No shows will be charged 100% of the services scheduled.
